Before Quilting Tips

Remove any stray pins that may have been overlooked.
Do not baste your quilt.
Check for and restitch any loose or broken seams.
Backstitch the ends of all border seams so that stitching doesn't pull loose during quilting.
Quilt borders should lie flat.
Avoid the use of sheets for backing.
Press quilt top seams flat.
If backing is pieced cut the selvages off the seams and press seams either open or to one side.
Clip loose threads from the front and back of the top and backing.
Quilt backing and batting must be at least 8 inches longer than the quilt top.
Quilt top and backing corners should be squared and the sides straight. (See views below)
Mark top if quilt to or backing is directional.
Quilt top should be free of embellishments.
If backing is seamed, please identify where you want the seam to fall, center-across or center-down.
A busy print for backing will always look good with any kind of quilting.
Let Quilter know how quilt will be used, such as: bed quilt, wall hanging, table topper, etc.
Ensure that quilt top and backing are free from allergens, such as dog hair.
The denser the quilting design the more your quilt will "shrink" during the quilting process.

Please remember uneven piecing, puckers, and wavy borders may not quilt out.
